The municipality of Schiedam has a flourishing maritime and offshore industry cluster. This activity causes considerable creates noise pollution as ships moored on the quay in particular generate a lot of decibels. Some of these reasons are

2. Noise from the exhaust
3. Cranes that work on the ships create a lot of excess noise

Many ports are familiar with this problem, and in the Netherlands the government is increasingly drawing attention to it for clear regulations. They prefer to do this in close consultation with the business community.
