As sustainability goals are being met in energy production from wind, solar, hydro, and geo sources, energy storage systems will need to follow suite and adopt environmentally friendly solutions. Batteries, hydrogen, thermal storage applications, flywheels, and other innovative methods are being pursued to resolve the disparity problem between inconsistent renewable energy generation and fluctuating energy demand.
