Measure the forces in a towline
Currently it is not possible to measure the exact forces in a towline. Some systems give indications though, but those are not accurate enough. Further, the towline passes through a staple on deck of the tugboat, in a certain angle. This angle also has an impact on both the forces in the towline, as well as on the staple. During towage operations, these forces need to be made visible to the captain of the tug. Having this insight at every moment, increases the safety and efficiency / effectiveness of towage operations.
